“However, the first dose of AstraZeneca and the second dose of BNT162b2 may slightly increase the normal response after vaccination,” the health ministry said in a statement.
“In July, the Ministry of Health will receive 746,460 doses of COVID-19 BNT162b2 (Comirnaty), the first two doses of 97,110 doses have arrived in Vietnam,” the Ministry of Health said.
The ministry decided to allocate 746,460 doses of Pfizer vaccine (Comirnaty) in July, provided to injection sites and units, in which the ministry said priority should be given in the event of a limited number of vaccines. dose to people who have received the first dose of AstraZeneca within 8-12 weeks, if the recipient agrees.
In order to strengthen control over the safety of vaccination, in a document sent to the provinces and cities on 22 July, the heads of units using the Pfizer vaccine (Comirnaty) 2nd dose for people who received the 1st dose of the vaccine applied for AstraZeneca. Health of Health recommends that units urgently report separate vaccination results and post-vaccination adverse events to persons who received dose 2 of Pfizer (Comimaty) who received the first dose of 1 with AstraZeneca immediately after vaccination.
At the same time, fully implement the regulations on the organization of vaccination to ensure the safety of vaccination, closely monitor adverse events after vaccination in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Health.
Deputy Health Minister Do Xuan Tuyen said some countries recommend injecting two different vaccines to boost immunity. The WHO Provisional Guidelines for the Use of Pfizer BNT162b2 of 15 June 2021 also mention the use of the second dose of BNT162b2 after the first dose of AstraZeneca in the USA, where vaccines of the same type are not available. , due to restrictions on vaccine supply or other problems.
