Kinshasa, March 25 (Sputnik). – Since the onset of the outbreak, the Ministry of Health of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has increased the number of ebola cases in the country at the end of last July to 1,009.

"In total there were 1,009 cases (944 confirmed and 65 probable)," says a new report published this week on Twitter.

According to this updated balance, the number of deaths is already 629, of which 564 confirmed cases, and 321 others are considered as being cured.

In addition, there are 240 "suspicious cases" that are being investigated, the Authority adds.

Ebola Virus is an acute viral infection that affects people and certain animal species.

The previous outbreak, which erupted in 2015, affected mainly three countries: Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia. (Sputnik)
