VW will also offer its compact ID.3 electric car with the smallest of the three battery packs available. The new basic “Pure” model with a net battery content of 45 kWh can now be configured in the online configurator from 31,495 euros. The range is set at 352 kilometers according to the WLTP standard, last year it was still 330 kilometers.
With a small battery, in addition to ID.3 Pure, there are also versions of “City” (from 34,415 euros) and “Style” (from 38,375 euros). In addition to the storage space, the model has a common electric motor with 110 kW (150 hp) at the rear, which goes from zero to one hundred and onwards to a speed of 160 km / h in 8.9 seconds. According to the WLTP, energy consumption is given as 14.9 kWh / 100 km. For AC charging – for example on a wall box at home or at work – unlike versions with a larger battery, a maximum of 7.2 is available instead of 11.0 kW of charging capacity.
So far, ID.3 has only been sold with a 58 or 77 kWh battery. To reduce the entry price from € 34,995 to € 31,495, VW with ID.3 Pure not only offers a smaller battery, but also weaker DC charging capacity at public high-speed chargers: 50 kW of energy can be supplied by direct current traction – ID.3 City and ID.3 Style can charge a 45 kWh battery with a power of up to 100 kW, some higher-ranking models offer 125 kW of charging power.
Standard on ID.3 Pure are LED headlights with automatic headlights, traffic sign recognition, “Front Assist” with pedestrian and cyclist recognition, a parking aid and connectivity to smartphones via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The “Discover Pro” navigation system is also installed at the factory, but it is said that this will only be valid in the first model year, which will be available until the middle of 2021.
With the new ID.3 Pure, German customers also receive a € 9,000 “environmental supplement”. As a net discount, VW grants a € 3,000 premium for the purchase of an electric car, funded by the federal government and industry, and the state transfers € 6,000. ID.3 is therefore available as a new car for just under € 30,000 until further notice. Later, a weaker electric motor could be installed, which lowers the price of the base model to the promised “below € 30,000”: the current ID.3 Pure is in the price list with the addition of “Performance”, at VW the more powerful of the two available identifies drives.
Ten additional preset versions of ID.3 are currently available for customers looking for greater range, performance or equipment. The maximum range of 549 kilometers is offered by the “Pro S” version, which costs 41,995 euros and has a 77 kWh battery, and also comes with an electric motor with 150 kW (204 hp) and a charging capacity of up to 125 kW. The second model above, with 77 kWh of “Tour” storage capacity for 49,685 euros, has a drive of 150 kW (204 hp) and can consume 125 kW of electricity, but due to the extra weight of the equipment it travels only 542 electric kilometers.
