Sigma launches particularly light lenses for mirrorless cameras

Sigma expands the range of zoom lenses. The new model is called 2.8 / 28-70 mm DG DN | Modern, writes “Fotointern” and refers to company information. It is compatible with full-frame mirrorless cameras with L and E mounts from Leica, Panasonic, Sony and Sigma.

The design of the new lens is based on the “2.8 / 24-70mm DG DN | Art” model, which was released at the end of 2019 and should provide the same optical performance. However, it has a focal length in the range of 28 millimeters and a slightly smaller wide-angle range. Thanks to this, the lens is significantly smaller than the previous model and is much lighter with 470 instead of 835 grams.

The lens includes two FLDs, two SLDs and three aspherical lenses, writes “Fotointern”. There are fewer elements than the model with a focal length of 24 millimeters. Nevertheless, the construction leads to extensive correction of longitudinal color defects and sagittal coma, which cannot be corrected with camera technology.

2.8 / 28-70 mm DG DN According to Fotointerna, Contemporary will be available from March 2021 and has an RDP of CHF 1,255.

Sigma’s 105mm F2.8 DG DN Macro Art tele-macro lens was released a few months ago and is suitable for both macro and portrait photography. The emphasis is on the hips.
