Report: Renault chief threatens to arrest – News Economy: Business


The chairman of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Nissan Carlos Ghosn threatens a journalist who reports that he is a prisoner. The manager was accused of violating financial rules by the Japanese authorities, the newspaper "Asahi" reported on Monday.

According to the press, the 64-year-old is also the director of the French car manufacturer Renault he suspects that his own financial statements have too little income. Ghosn agreed to cooperate with the state prosecutor. Nissan spokesman said the company is reviewing the report.

Ghosn, born in Brazil, holds strings in the alliance between two Japanese manufacturers Nissan and Mitsubishi with the French manufacturer Renault. According to the report, Renault's share fell by 5.6 percent to a three-year low of 61.14 euros. In Frankfurt, quoted on the stock exchange, Nissan even fell by 7.6 percent. (Reuters)
