With Kirin 985, in the third quarter of 2019, a new member of the SoC family is expected. In spite of the fact that the Kirin 985 will continue to be manufactured using a 7-nanometer process, data are now showing that this production process can be optimized. It is expected that the so-called EUV technology will increase the transistor density of the process 985 by up to 20 percent compared to the conventional 7-NM method.

This means that although the chip architecture does not change, more power will be available – like a car, where the turbocharged engine technology can consume more energy from the engines.

The successor Mate 20 is expected to be presented towards the end of the year. A few weeks ago, rumors appeared that Mate 30 contained five cameras. This is stated at least by one Huawei patent.
