South Korean smartphone maker Samsung unveiled a prototype of a smartphone that opens up as a book at a development conference in San Francisco a few days ago. Analysts, however, expected the presentation of a very straightforward smartphone, but only the technology on which it was based would be expected.
On the front of the prototype presented by Samsung over 5000 developers of software and partner companies, a relatively small screen with a diagonal of 11.6 centimeters can be found, while the main display in the unfolding state measures 18.5 centimeters.
In the folded state, the device can be used as a normal smartphone. When it is opened by the user, the application that is used then moves to a significantly larger screen that is called in the Infinity Flex by Samsung. Of course, it's possible to display much more information and content on this screen than on a smaller one. This is not only useful for photos, videos and games, but for example. also for news apps that can show much more messages.
Even better: as Samsun's messages say, up to three applications can be used simultaneously on a spreading device, without it becoming opaque. For a more comfortable use, a new design of the One UI interface should be provided. In addition, Google has announced that the future version of its operating system will also support foldable phones.
How to see the new smartphone is not yet known. At the development conference, Samsung presented the prototype so that it was not possible to see almost anything other than the screen. Also, it is not known when the new smartphone should come to market.
The start of the sale should not be very far. Samsung plans to launch "the next few months" with the mass production of the Infinity Flex. Analysts therefore expect the first Samsungov hands-free smartphone to be expected in 2019.
As the next generation Infinity Flex is the next generation, Samsung has invited all those present at the development conference to participate. If their applications are not appropriate, the foldable phone will also be an empty device with no real content.
