Seattle Kraken officially became the 32nd NHL club on Friday. The management of the overseas hockey profile has confirmed admission to the competition after the club paid the last amount of the total 650 million expansion fee.
The league has agreed to expand the competition for the Seattle-based club as early as December 2018. Kraken will join the NHL from the 2021/2022 season. The prestigious competition was last expanded four years ago, in the 2017/2018 season, the Vegas Golden Knights entered the league.
“I am delighted to have officially welcomed Seattle Kraken as the 32nd member of the NHL on behalf of the Board of Governors,” AFP quoted Competition Commissioner Gary Bettman as saying.
After paying the last amount, Kraken can start signing players and switch players. However, he will make up his staff mainly with a draft expansion scheduled for July 21, when he will select one player from the remaining 31 profiling clubs. Another important date for the Seattle Kraken is 23-24. July, when he will premiere talented youngsters in the NHL.
