The Agency for Medicinal Products and Medical Devices of Serbia (ALIMS) urgently warned doctors and patients about the harmfulness of high-pressure medicines.
Medicines that are very commonly used in Serbia because they are given by all patients with hypertension and which contain the active substance hydrochlorothiazide may cause non-melanoma skin cancer.
In the news TV First published a list of 32 disputed medicines:
Enelapril, vivace, thermicol, korace, telmipres, skopril, iruzid, nebilet, mikardis, prilazid, losar, erinorm, kemokvin, hemopres, irbenida, prilenap, prilinda, tensek, janida, ampil, tolukombi, valsakombi, enates, binevol, tritace, diunorm.
Cardiologists say that these medicines are often prescribed and warn patients not to stop treatment without consulting a doctor.
Pavle Zelić of ALMIS told TV Prvi that medicines will not be withdrawn from the market and that patients should not stop treatment.
"The letter is a precautionary measure issued in Croatia and in other countries of the European Union. There is no reason to withdraw drugs from the market, it is noted that these rarely rare cancers occur, all of which is one regulatory measure that aims to be more cautious These doctors and patients are attentive to the skin, "he said.
He emphasized that the use of medicines continues, because their benefits are excellent.
