Applying the measles in Ukraine

A warning to the Romans and Moldavians who are in transit or want to go to Ukraine, according to data provided by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, continue to record new measles outbreaks.

According to the Center for Public Health of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, 1,285 cases of measles were recorded in the first two weeks of this year (856 children and 429 adults). Most cases were reported in Ivano-Frankivsk regions: 275, Chernivtsi: 274, Transcarpathia: 194 and Odessa: 157, informs News.ro.

According to statistics provided by the Ukrainian authorities, there were 4782 cases of measles (1,292 adults and 3490 children) recorded in 2417 regions in Ukraine in 2017, most of which were found in the Ivano-Frankivsk region: 1344, Odessa: 1256 and Transcarpathia : 637. Since September 2017, local authorities have launched an intensive campaign of vaccination for minors.

The medical recommendation of experts for those who go to Ukraine is to check the condition of measles vaccination and to vaccinate antiradiol at least two weeks before the trip. In addition, it is advisable to avoid meetings and public places where the disease can easily spread.

The worst spot of measles in Europe is in Romania, where more than 10,400 cases have been recorded.
