Opening of the Christmas fair in Sibiu was held on Friday evening, with thousands of people witnessing the lighting of the festive lights and the concert by Paula Seling and Radu Nechifor.
This year's edition contains a skating rink, which will be open for the whole period of the fair, but there are no houses where visitors can buy holiday candies, gifts, Christmas decorations. Children will be able to attend the Santa Claus workshop where they can express their creativity. At the same time, visitors can walk through the tourist train at the fair.
Also, the traditional Christmas tree was replaced by reinterpreted, which does not claim to be a replica of a natural tree, neither in appearance nor in size. This is a new, simpler and minimalist concept that preserves the symbol of Christmas, but in a figurative way, more friendly to nature, representatives of the town hall Sibiu reported.
Sibiu City Hall finances the cultural program of the fair.
The Christmas market in Sibiu will be open until 3 January.
