The NPO 1 television program had a beautiful background with the world-famous Pont du Gard in the background, but the viewers only had a look (or ear) on a huge amount of cicatas in the southern French city.
Natural sounds have also won many praise: "Great, those crickets on tour, as if you were there!" wrote the viewer on Twitter. Whoever talked about crickets was immediately reminded:
"Nice and convenient, this microphone with those crickets," wrote Bas Verveen. Was it really a technical problem? "In the evening, after 45 minutes, they learned how to turn off the crickets," said John den Braber. "It could have been done earlier," wrote Marijke Bokdam.
Many people complained about "annoying" sound. "Just a little too good for a good atmosphere," someone wrote.
"Obviously, crickets are also thrilled with how cheap and functional the EPO is," wrote Henk-Willem Beks. "Crickets were easier to understand than an interviewer," said Marcel Korbijn.
