At 12,000 400 million light-years, it is a festern of great dimensions. The brightest galaxy, known to date, equal to 350 trillion suns, is surrounded by three smaller nearby galaxies. The process, which he had never noticed at such a distance, was watching the ALMA radio telescope, and his data was published in the latest issue of Science magazine.
The W2246-0526 galaxy is already known for its astronomer and has been named the brightest in space. Nevertheless, there were some details that took place because it is a galaxy that has been covered with dust or a hot DOG (an acronym for a galaxy that is unclear with dust). As the name suggests, its luminosity is only visible in infrared due to the large amount of dust that surrounds it. Astronomers knew that these hot dogs were surrounded by other smaller galaxies, but not that they were connected to them.
"We did not search for cannabis behavior and we did not expect it, but this detailed observation with the ALMA Observatory made everything very clear," says Tanio Daz-Santos, postdoctoral researcher at Astronome U. Diego Portales and study leader.
What could be seen by ALMA, W2246-0526 was absorbed by huge filaments or gas bridges. The source of their food is three small galaxies, converted into men. "We spot this in the near universe, but never at this distance," says Roberto Assef, director of the UDP Astronomer Core and co-author of the study. No less, it continues, the one that feeds from several sources.
But W2246-0526 is not the only host of this big festival. The center is actively powered by a massive black hole for springs that produces a disk of very energetic and extremely bright gas. The light of this disc absorbs gas and therefore astronomers "see" the luminosity of the galaxy only in the infrared. According to the work, the lightness of the hole will also be saturated with the three galaxies present in the menu.
"It is possible that all the processes we observe are interconnected," says Roberto Assef. There are theories that say that galaxy combinations will have a certain relationship with the black holes located in their centers, but for the moment there is insufficient evidence for this. "This galaxy is extremely active and everything happens at the same time," adds a scientist. You have to watch.
What is the main galaxy is a kind of savings account, the real astrologer. The international group that participated in this study calculates that it is festern enough to keep the black hole for millions of years. Perhaps for this or for reasons that have not yet been discovered weigh three times as much as we should.
