More than a year ago, a huge amount of Nintendo-owned content leaked online. Much was about prototypes, code, concept art, and details about other canceled projects or alternates. Many of them are related to old games dating back to the times of SNES, N64 and more.
Occasionally, part of this “giga leak” is released via Resetera, but what worries us on this occasion is the confirmation of “secession” The legend of Zelda play Sheik and play Metroid developed by Intelligent Systems (Fire emblem, Mario paper). The latter was supposed to start soon after Metroid Prime, in accordance with the attached footnote. As the list focuses on Wii projects, they may have referred to the third installment (Corruption).
“Separation” Zelda with Sheik, this was a much darker proposal from Retro Studios (Metroid Prime, Donkey Kong Country Returns) and is based on Ocarina hours. In May 2020, artist Sammy Hall shared a conceptual design developed between 2005 and 2008 that did not pass the pre-production phase.
Everything pointed to that this Sheika game took place after a bad ending Ocarina hours where Link fails to defeat Ganon (and the first branch related to Link to the past). The game would explore the last Sheikah man after the ethnic genocide over Hyrule, on a journey through the main sword, and a confrontation with the dark Geruda. By the way, this would be a reincarnation of Ganon like every 100 years. The game would be an action / RPG.
Although this has already been announced by Shinesparkers, Nintendo manages to officially confirm it for the first time. The original source was ArtStation, but the images were removed from this site and the links expired.
Along with this “secession” Zelda was also project Boo – a typical spirit Super Mario– away from the traditional style. The art, designed between 2006 and 2007, pointed to a game for portable resolutions, that is, for the Nintendo DS. Bo’s abilities are supposed to include possessive powers and Broomies or what appears to be witches.
It is very likely that we will never implement these projects, but after resurrection Metroid Dread, we dare not sign it with marble.
