The Chinese rover Zhurong, according to the Chinese State Space Administration, was driving 509 meters on the surface of Mars from 11 pm on Saturday (Beijing time) on the surface of Mars.

The rover will soon reach another sand dune where it is expected to conduct detailed research.

Rover Zhurong has been operating on the red planet for 63 Martian days. Mars day is about 40 minutes longer than a day on Earth.

The latest images sent back by the rover show a parachute and a protective shell on the surface of Mars.

The Tianwen-1 orbiter, which serves as a relay communication satellite, has been in orbit for 359 days at a distance of about 375 million kilometers from Earth. The one-way communication delay is almost 21 minutes.

The rover and orbiter are in good condition and each subsystem is operating normally.

The Chinese Tianwen-1 mission, consisting of an orbiter, landing and rover, was launched on July 23, 2020. The landing, carrying the rover, landed in the southern part of Utopia Planitia, a vast plain in the northern hemisphere of Mars, on May 15 this year.
