The Better Business Bureau issued a warning about Fortnita designers, one of the most popular video games in the world, after receiving a "worrying" number of complaints.
The epic games in North Carolina received the F rating from their local BBB in response to hundreds of missed customer complaints, said Karla Davis, a spokeswoman for the BBC. a branch that raises the red flag for consumers of this province.
"The complainants have been quite arguing that the company has failed to protect customer security. There are several cases of unauthorized charges for their accounts and that there have been many complaints of failure to respond in a timely manner," Davis told CBC.
There are currently 279 complaints – mostly from North America and Europe – related to Epic Games, which also produces popular Infinity Blade games. All eight of these complaints were filed in 2018, and 247 were not dealt with by the company, says BBB.
"This is worrying for us," Davis said of the complaints.
Concerns arise from Canada, the United States, Germany, Israel, Portugal and the United Kingdom.
Davis said that North Carolina BBB tried to contact Epic Games about complaints.
"Every attempt went unanswered," she said.
Players of video games should always be careful when revealing credit card information and check what businesses are doing to protect private data, Davis added.
Company Response
The Epic Games representative responded to a CBC News commentary with a short written statement.
"Epic Games is not affiliated with the Better Business Bureau and has redirected all complaints filed by the player, from BBB to our support staff," he wrote.
The statement said that the company encourages players who have concerns about their accounts to contact the Epic Games customer service via the website.
