The 63-year-old pedestrian died in a collision with a transit bus in DTES – BC



A 63-year-old man died after being hit by a transit bus at Downtown Eastside in Vancouver on Friday night.

TransLink confirms that one of his buses hit a pedestrian on Hastings Street between Abbott and Carrall streets.

According to the Vancouver Police Department (VPD), this happened just before 17.00, when the bus moved away from the stop on Hastings to the east.

The police said that a man had run into a bus and died.

VPD said that speed was not a factor in the accident, and that the collision investigators stayed on the scene late Friday night.

The traffic was redirected to West Hastings between Abbott and Carall streets so that researchers could work.

The accident was marked by the third fatality of Vancouver's year of pedestrians.
