Pedestrian killed in a collision with a transit bus in Vancouver

Vancouver Police are investigating a fatal collision in Downtown Eastside involving a pedestrian and a transit bus early this evening.

According to a release, just before 5:30 pm, a bus pulled away from a stop on West Hastings Street, going east toward Carrall Street, and colliding into a 63-year-old man.

The man died at the scene of the incident.

Police say speed does not seem to be a factor. An investigation led by the VPD's Collision Investigation Unit is ongoing.

West Hastings Street between Abbott Street and Carrall Street is currently closed to allow investigators to work at the scene.

This was the third pedestrian death in the city of Vancouver in 2019.
