"The link between excessive exposure, mostly in large cities and the risk of developing various diseases – especially cardiovascular and oncologic – is becoming clearer," said Somaliologist Alexander Kalinkin, head of the Center for Sleep Health at the Moscow State University.
In his opinion, light is the main regulator for the production of melatonin hormones. Each cell contains its own clock, it has its own cycle regulated by melatonin. "If we stay too bright in the evening or use computer equipment, then we reduce the production of melatonin for a later hour and cause sleep problems," Kalinkin said.
