The Ministry of Health points out that the areas newly affected by the disease and the large population, such as the metropolitan areas of Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and Sao Paulo, still have a large number of people who have not been vaccinated against fever and therefore have an increased risk of infection.

In 2017, when there was a yellow fever outbreak, vaccination was extended to 4,469 municipalities. This was due to the inclusion of 940 sites located near the capitals and metropolitan areas of the south-east and southern regions of the country where evidence of viral traffic was present. Coverage of vaccination must be at least 95% of the population.

In the national calendar vaccination, yellow fever vaccine is offered and distributed to countries each month, and 30 million doses of vaccine against this disease are sent nationwide this year. However, the population does not want to have vaccinations. People should take a dose of at least 10 days before going to risk areas.
