Amazfit has confirmed the introduction of a new smartwatch – the Amazfit GTS 2 Mini.
The latest Amazfit smartwatch will go on sale on December 1, the company confirmed on Weib. The above footage is said to have come from a video shared by Huami CEO Huang Wang (via gadgets 360) – but the original could not be found for verification.
The GTS 2 Mini, which is in the heels for the global presentation of the Amazfit GTS 2, reduces its physical size and changes into a curved shape that looks more fitbit than the Apple Watch.
It is aimed at a younger crowd and is expected to be thinner, lighter and smaller than the GTS 2.
The GTS 2 added a bunch of new features compared to the original GT, adding SpO2, stress tracking.
In fact, we felt that many of these new features reduced the simplicity of the Amazfit GTS, as the software and insights didn’t add much experience.
The GTS 2 has also risen in price, and the £ 159.99 price tag comes close to the Fitbit Versa 3 and Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 – both of which provide a better software experience.
So the Amazfit GTS 2 Mini could be a beautiful bridge. We’re not sure how much it will cost, or the specifics of the watch, but we’d love to see the GPS retail and qualify for the £ 100 bracket.
This would then bridge the gap between the Amazfit Bip S (and perhaps the incoming Bip U).
The budget smartwatch market is getting more and more crowded and the really hot space seems to be less than $ 100. We saw Amazfit heading there with the Bip S and Xiaomi seems to be preparing for the Xiaomi Mi Watch Color Sports Edition and Xiaomi Mi Watch Lite.
We also saw Mobvoi aggressively target this price point with the Ticwatch GTX for $ 55.
We will be testing all of these devices in the coming weeks and months, so take a look at this space.
