MONACO – Monaco coach Thierry Henry refused to search for excuses for his victory in Monaco on Monday in Monaco and insisted he and his players would dig up Bruges in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Henry has not won four matches since he was in Monaco, lost in Strasbourg and Reims, and in the league with Dijon and in the Belgian championship of Brugge in the last round of European matches.
"It's a great game," said former Arsenal and Barcelona striker Henry, who was the Belgian assistant coach at the last World Cup.
"We need three points, even if some might say that we should play three in the last game too."
Henry's side is third in Group A, level with Brugge at the point with Dortmund in nine and Atletico on six.
"You can not change everything in two weeks, but we should not think about it too much," said a smooth French player who started his career in Monaco. "Work is crucial, every one of us needs to look at ourselves and learn what we can do more."
In 2017, the French were Kylian Mbappea for PSG, Bernardo Silva and Benjamin Mendy in Man City, Tiemoue Bakayoko in Chelsea, Thomas Lemar in Atletico Madrid and Fabinho in Liverpool for the last 18 months.
Henry played a role in the changes in the acting staff in the worrying collapse of Monaco.
"Changes are no excuse," insisted Henry, who took over from Portuguese coach Leonard Jardim in mid-October. "It's a mental thing, but I will not pretend that this is not worrying because it is," he said.
"It's up to us to be burdened with hard work."
One of the Monaco players who joined him is defender of France Djibril Sidibé, who helped his nation win at the 2018 world championship.
"I can not pretend that I do not care," said 26-year-old right-wing defender.

"It's in our minds, like everybody else," said Sidibe, who, in addition to Henry at the press conference before Tuesday in the League of Champions in the League, first qualified for the European League, finishing third.
"There are many young players here and many have little experience.
"It will be high-level competition and we have to focus on winning," he added.
