The Land Cruiser 70 series doesn’t need to be introduced, as it has impressed field enthusiasts, game lovers, farmers and other users. The solid construction and unmistakable Toyota engines have earned a reputation for “just going on like this”.
The 70 Series is available in three main forms: bakkie (79), station wagon (76) and wagon (78). Due to reduced demand, it decided in August 2015 to rank the supply of ‘78’ and sales of ‘76’ and ‘79’ continue. Following some specific market requirements for this type of Toyota vehicle, South Africa is pleased to announce the re-launch of the Land Cruiser Wagon 78.
The specifications reflect the previously offered model, except for the switch to drum brakes at the rear (which provide greater durability in high-dirt operating conditions).
The LC 78 is powered by a tried-and-tested 4.2-liter 1 HZ six-cylinder diesel engine that produces 96 kW at 3800 rpm and 285 Nm at a low 2200 rpm. This is mated to a heavy five-speed manual transmission and a low-range gearbox.
The LC 78 rides on heavy steel rims, shod with 7.50R16C tires, and is only available in two exterior colors: white ivory and sandy beige. A three-year warranty per 100,000 km is part of the purchase, and service intervals are every 5,000 km. Customers can purchase customized service plans and / or warranty extensions from their Toyota dealer.
