The lack of leadership of the Eskom MPs angers

CITY OF CAPS – Deputies have canceled Eskom officials for failing to prepare for a meeting with the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa).

The power company is expected to brief Scopa on Tuesday on its annual report, deviations, expansions and investigations.

But the SOE administration rescued at eleven o’clock, which angered MPs of all parties.

Scopa was forced to cancel the session on Tuesday after Eskom failed to present its presentation on the investigations.

The hearing should cover the financial year under review and obtain information on investigations into maladministration and corruption in the entity.

Committee chairman Mkhuleko Hlengwa said: “I can assure you that Eskom, like any other entity, will have to present itself to parliament. This cannot be negotiated, I want to assure you of this. “

Committee member Bheki Hadebe said members had invested a lot of time in preparing for the meetings.

“This isn’t the first time and it seems like Eskom wants to get special treatment.”

Public Enterprise Minister Pravin Gordhan said Eskom has no plans to undermine Scope. The meeting will continue on Tuesday night with a focus on derogations and extensions of contracts.
