One dead as a kidnapper, the police are facing Randburg

The suspect was shot dead, and four were wounded in a police shooting after a vehicle was intercepted in Randburg, Johannesburg, on Friday morning.

Police spokesman Gauteng says police Mavela Masondo are investigating and looking for suspects since she recently received numerous reports of kidnappings in Randburg and its surroundings.

"On Friday morning, the police spotted suspicious men who were driving with a white terrain terrain and carefully watched," Masondo said.

Masondo said police officers, when they reached the suspects, showed firearms to the police, which then opened fire on them.

"The footage was triggered where the suspect was fatally shot and two suffered injuries and were taken to the hospital by the police.

An investigation is underway to determine whether the weapons that were recovered were used in other criminal offenses.

Accused suspects face charges of attempting to kidnap, own a hijacked vehicle and possess unlicensed firearms. They will appear in court in court at the Randburg Magistrates' Court.

A separate incident

News24 reported that yesterday another planned imprisonment intercepted an integrated group of law enforcement agencies.

Masondo said that they had spotted suspects in two vehicles traveling between Soweto and Lenasia South, Johannesburg.

Toyota Corolla was wrapped around the K43 road next to the informal settlement Thembelihle, and a man was arrested.

Police said at the time that they believed that many innocent lives had been saved due to intercepting the planned robbery.

At the site of the accident they found a rifle AK47, a gun and a gun with ammunition. Masondo said that the weapons will be subject to ballistic testing for possible links to other crimes.

Two vehicles were seized.
