Phakaaathi Jonty Mark and Khaya Ndubane present their views on who will win the Sowet derby and why.
Why Chiefs Will Win (Jonty Mark, Phakaaathi Editor)
For some fans, Kaizer Chiefs now feel that they will never again win the Soweta derby against their big rivals Orlando Pirates.
It has been more than four years since Amakhosi's last defeated Buccaneer, and the Pirates are again favorites when both sides meet at Absa Premiership at the FNB stadium on Saturday afternoon.
But there are signs that the bosses are at a higher level, as Ernst Middendorp took over the reins for the second hour at the club, after a grueling few months under Giovanni Solinas.
Chiefs picked up good wins against SuperSport United and AmaZulu and especially Bidvest Wits, and although Middendorp may have had a mixed first hour on the Chiefs, he never lost the Sowet derby.
Pirates beat the bosses in both meetings this season, in the league and Telkom Knockout, but Middendorp has tightened the defenses of Amakhosi, and I suspect it will not be so easy to break this time, though with their problems in the midfield in the absence of Itumeleng Khune.
My feeling is that this will be the day when the Chiefs will come to a derby party, and I support them that this time will run out of the winners of 2-1, so Amakhosi fans will get some more necessary rights.
Forecast: Kaizer Chiefs 2 Orlando Pirates 1
Why Pirates Will Win (Khaya Ndubane, Online Content Manager)
When the last few years have overcome this meeting, there is no doubt that the Pirates are favorites for this meeting.
Buccaneers have not lost to Kaizer Chiefs since 2014 and I see that this dominance continues at the FNB Stadium this afternoon.
Both sides have already withdrawn already twice in the current action and Buccaneers have fought on both occasions with victories, winning 2-1 in the league game before eliminating Amakhosi from the semi-finals Telkom Knockout with the same rating.
Thembinkosi Lorch, who was in a red-hot form when the last side met, and offset the buccaners.
He is no doubt the dangerman that the Chiefs will watch out for as they strive to end their own winless run against Buccaneers. But with the Pirates, who have pure health entering this encounter, Micho Sredojević can drop another secret weapon to exhibit, shaking the defense of the chiefs.
Given this, I expect Pirates to win the match with the same 2-1 point they won in the previous meeting.
Forecast:Kaizer Chiefs 1 Orlando Pirates 2
