Police in East London, along with immigration officials, arrested 14 foreign nationals for violating the Immigration Act and #SaferFriday shut down two Shebeen in the police stations of Vulindlel and Mdantsana.
"These operations were aimed at ensuring that the Mdantsane cluster, which covers the following areas: Mdantsane, Vulindlel, Inyibiba, Berlin, Cambridge, Mooiplaas, Macleantown, Bluewater, Komga and Keimouth remain a safe and vibrant place where they live and do business" said the police spokesman Captain Nkosikho Mzuku.
"There were patrols in centers, including post offices in and around the cluster.
"Illegal sheveens were banned from prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages without a license."
He said that they visited trucks in order to ensure compliance with their licensing conditions.
"We will continue this unannounced action to ensure that our people really feel safe," said Captain Mzuku.
"Suspects aged between 19 and 49 will soon appear in the Magistrate Mdantsane Magistrates' Court.
